Memories of travels, the soul of Brittany

Madame d’Alexis: the legacy of a globetrotter dedicated to hair beauty

At Madame d'Alexis, four principles guide every formulation. Transparency: it all began with the notebooks of an ambassador's wife who, city after city, noted down skin and haircare rituals from Asia, Africa, and elsewhere. Almost a century later, we preserve this spirit by indicating the exact percentage of natural origin and the traceability of each ingredient. Inert water gives way to living floral hydrosols so that every line of the INCI list has meaning.

The Madame d'Alexis fragrance tells the story of a journey. Inspired by the traveler's notebooks and crafted in Grasse, it awakens differently on each skin, as if the perfume recognized its recipient.

When it comes into contact with water, the citrus notes open up, the floral heart becomes silky, and then a delicate trail remains on the hair, intimate like a secret. This subtle variation, guided by the alchemy of the skin, transforms shampooing into a personal ritual, recalling a memory of a journey, the light of late afternoon, a gesture passed on.

Each shampoo becomes a moment to oneself, where heritage meets the present and where the signature scent emerges, unique and faithful to the person wearing it.

A pioneering adventurer

It all began in the Roaring Twenties.

As the wife of an ambassador and an eternally curious woman, Madame d'Alexis traveled the world with her leather notebook in hand. From one continent to another, she notes down the hair and skincare rituals she discovers: a coconut oil balm beaten with a mortar in Zanzibar, a powder made from rice and petals in Kyoto, a floral water distilled in the Andes. Each page of her notebooks becomes a stopover, each formula a memory.

Almost a century later, his granddaughter discovered these notebooks.

This discovery sparked an idea: to combine the legacy of ancestral rituals with the precision of modern skincare. After three years of research, this family heritage came to life in the form of high-performance French formulas, developed in a laboratory in Brittany overlooking the sea.

Secret diaries, family heirlooms

Before becoming a name on our bottles, Madame d'Alexis was a traveler who kept notebooks during her travels, recording the skincare and haircare rituals she discovered from one continent to another. These notebooks were entrusted to her granddaughter, who used them as the living foundation for the brand.

From this memory were born our French formulas developed in Brittany, where science extends the intuition of ancient practices. Respect, transparency, sensoriality, and measured effectiveness have been our benchmarks since then, so that each hair care product perpetuates the spirit of the notebooks while meeting today's demands.

From elsewhere to the coast of Brittany: science takes over

A century after Madame d'Alexis' travels, her notebooks now lie behind the walls of a laboratory facing the sea. Water, once a simple diluent, has been replaced by active organic hydrosols: Damask rose, chamomile, orange blossom.

Truly living waters. Fermented macerates observed in Asia inspire our probiotic complexes, while Breton seaweed baths fuel our research into cationic hyaluronic acid. Each creation is a journey.

She stops off in Grasse to pick up her signature scent, then returns to settle in Brittany, where our formulas take on their final character.

An intimate passport between poetry and performance

Madame d’Alexis is not a brand, but a legacy.

A link between the journals of an adventurer and modern science, between the poetry of ancient rituals and the rigor of the laboratory.

A journey through time and the senses, where each treatment becomes a passport to essential beauty: healthy, free, and luminous hair.
