Moisturizing Hair Mask

The Moisturizing Hair Mask with Organic Hydrosols

A deep-conditioning hair mask that hydrates, nourishes, and repairs the hair shaft thanks to active organic hydrosols, plant-based ceramides, and cationic hyaluronic acid—the nourishing hair mask with no added water.

The first natural hair mask with no added water. While traditional masks dilute their active ingredients in water, Le Masque Madame d’Alexis formulates each ingredient to work—not just to fill space. Deep hydration, strengthened hair fibers, and a sealed cuticle.

Plant-based ceramides and hyaluronic acid: the restorative duo

Plant-based ceramides are lipids that are essential for the cohesion of the hair fiber. When the cuticle is damaged by heat, coloring, friction, or repeated washing, it becomes more porous and allows water to escape. The Madame d’Alexis Mask helps strengthen this lipid barrier to smooth the cuticle, reduce breakage, and restore suppleness.

Cationic hyaluronic acid complements this action: its positive charge allows it to adhere better to the hair fiber, which is naturally negatively charged. It deeply hydrates, plumps the hair fiber, and protects the mid-lengths and ends from dehydration.

01 Plant ceramides

Strengthen the lipid barrier, improve elasticity, reduce breakage, and smooth the cuticle.

02 Cationic hyaluronic acid

Deeply hydrates, plumps the hair shaft, and protects the lengths from dehydration.

A moisturizing mask with active organic hydrosols

Instead of plain water, Alexis’s Le Masque Madame uses a baseof active organic hydrosols. Each hydrosol contributes to the product’s overall effectiveness, resulting in softer, shinier, and more supple hair.

01 Organic Orange Blossom Hydrosol

Provides comfort and a sensory experience, and helps revitalize the scalp.

02 Organic Damask Rose Hydrosol

Helps moisturize, soothe, and bring out the hair's natural shine.

03 Organic chamomile hydrosol

Helps soothe sensitive scalps and add shine to the hair.

The formula is enriched with orange blossom essential wax, which helps lock in moisture and provide immediate softness, as well as organic apricot and jojoba oils, known for nourishing the hair shaft, improving elasticity, and bringing out the hair’s natural shine.

Hydrating Hair Mask vs. Conditioner: Which One Should You Choose?

Conditioner and moisturizing hair masks are often confused, yet their functions are fundamentally different.

A conditioner works mainly on the surface: it smooths the cuticle, makes detangling easier, and reduces frizz in just a few minutes. Its effects are immediate and convenient, but more superficial.

A moisturizing hair mask works more deeply: its active ingredients—plant-based ceramides, cationic hyaluronic acid, organic hydrosols, and plant oils—have time to penetrate the hair shaft, support the lipid barrier, and help the lengths retain moisture more effectively. It’s a deep-conditioning treatment, not just a finishing touch.

Alexis's Madame Mask is formulated to replace conditioner in your routine, not necessarily to be added to it. Its base of active organic hydrosols allows it to detangle, smooth, and nourish in a single application.

How to Choose a Natural Hair Mask?

Not all hair masks are created equal. Here are the criteria that distinguish a truly restorative treatment from a purely cosmetic one.

Deep-repairing active ingredients: A nourishing hair mask without ceramides or deep-moisturizing active ingredients is likely to simply coat the hair shaft. Plant-based ceramides support the lipid barrier, while cationic hyaluronic acid helps lock in moisture.
The active moisturizing base: a mask formulated with inert water dilutes its active ingredients. A base of organic active hydrosols—Damask rose, chamomile, and orange blossom—provides a naturally acidic pH that is beneficial for the cuticle and adds an extra layer of skincare.
Silicone-free: Silicones provide immediate softness, but can build up on the hair shaft and limit the penetration of subsequent treatments. A natural, silicone-free hair mask nourishes without causing buildup.
Choose the right product for your hair type: For dry hair, look for products with ceramides and hyaluronic acid. For curly hair, look for lightweight oils that define your curls without weighing them down. For color-treated hair, choose a gentle formula that’s free of sulfates and silicones.
The recommended frequency: 1 to 2 times a week as an intensive treatment, then once a week for maintenance. The mask can be used in place of conditioner every time you wash very dry or very damaged hair.

What you'll see, week after week

From the very first use: hair is immediately more supple, shinier, and easier to detangle. Dry ends regain their softness, and the hair feels smoother to the touch.

After 2 to 3 weeks: The cuticle appears smoother. Colored or chemically treated hair regains its luster. Breakage caused by dryness may decrease, and the lengths are more resistant to styling.

After 4 to 6 weeks of regular use: the lipid barrier is better supported by plant-based ceramides. The hair shaft retains moisture better between washes. Curly hair regains sharper definition, and dry hair gains longer-lasting suppleness.

For maintenance: Use once a week to maintain moisture and shine. For very dry or very damaged hair, you may use it twice a week as an intensive treatment.

For which hair type?

Hair mask for dry, sensitized, or brittle hair: plant-based ceramides strengthen the lipid barrier, while cationic hyaluronic acid helps maintain moisture.
Hair mask for curly, coily, or textured hair: the hair becomes more supple, softer, and easier to detangle, with less frizz.
For colored, bleached, or chemically treated hair: This reparative hair mask helps counteract the dryness and brittleness caused by these treatments.
Dull, coarse, or lackluster hair: premium oils, orange blossom essential wax, and organic hydrosols restore shine, softness, and suppleness.
For all hair types: This hair mask with organic hydrosols can be used as a quick treatment, a standard treatment, a deep treatment, or an overnight treatment, depending on the level of dryness.

How do you use Alexis' Madame Mask?

Quick detangling: Leave on for 2 to 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Standard conditioner: Leave on towel-dried hair for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.
Deep conditioning: Leave on dry or damp hair for 20 to 30 minutes after shampooing.
Intensive treatment: Apply to dry hair as an overnight treatment once a week for sensitized hair.
Rinsing: Always rinse thoroughly, as the formula is highly concentrated and contains no added water.

To maximize the effects of the MASQUE's natural ingredients and transform this hair care product into a unique sensory experience, Madame d'Alexis invites you to discover the rituals for repairing and nourishing your hair from root to tip.
The Masque is designed to be used in a variety of ways to meet specific needs. To reveal its full effect, follow our instructions for use:

For deep repair and intense nourishment, use Le Masque before Shampooing:
Before the Shampoo ritual, apply Le Masque generously to your hair. Gently massage into hair and leave on for 20 minutes. For optimal results, leave on overnight. Rinse thoroughly and proceed with the Shampoo ritual.

For long-lasting nourishment and guaranteed shine, use Le Masque after Shampoo: After the Shampoo ritual, gently wring out excess water from your hair. Gently massage a generous dab of Le Masque into your lengths. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

For instant detangling and a boost of softness, use Le Masque as an after-shampoo application:

After the Le Shampoing ritual, apply a small dab of Le Masque to wet hair. Comb through hair and leave on for 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Gentle heat tip for long exposure:

For long exposure (20 minutes or overnight), wrap hair in a warm towel; the heat slightly opens the cuticles and encourages ceramide penetration.

The Mask - Moisturizing Hair Mask with Organic Hydrosols

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why has my hair become so dry? Where is all the moisture I'm applying going?

Your hair is dry because the lipid barrier that retains moisture is damaged. This barrier is made up of natural sebum and lipids. When it is intact, it locks water inside the hair shaft. When it is damaged, water escapes quickly. Harsh shampoos containing sulfates strip away this barrier. Hard water clogs the cuticles and prevents moisture from penetrating. Repeated heat exposure (from hair dryers and flat irons) gradually damages the hair’s structure and creates gaps through which water escapes. Hair coloring and bleaching open the cuticle and weaken the lipid barrier. Exposure to the sun and pollution oxidizes the lipids and renders them ineffective. You apply moisture, but it escapes quickly because the lipid barrier is damaged. It’s like filling a glass with holes in it. No matter how much water you pour in, it escapes through the holes. You need two things: to repair the lipid barrier (with ceramides) and to deeply hydrate (with hyaluronic acid). This mask offers both. Plant-based ceramides help strengthen and smooth the surface of the hair shaft. Cationic hyaluronic acid helps lock in moisture and has a high affinity for the hair shaft. Organic hydrosols provide real nourishment. Essential wax seals in the moisture. Together, they create a hydrated and protected hair shaft. After a single application, your hair is visibly more hydrated. After 2 to 3 weeks of regular use, the lipid barrier is gradually repaired. Your hair retains moisture longer. After 4 weeks, your hair is noticeably softer, shinier, and healthier. This is the result of the gradual repair of the lipid barrier.

What do cationic hyaluronic acid and ceramides actually do? How do they work together?

Cationic hyaluronic acid has a positive charge. This positive charge allows it to naturally adhere to the hair fiber (which has a negative charge). The result: deep penetration. A hyaluronic acid molecule can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Once deposited on the hair shaft, it helps maintain hydration and improve the hair’s suppleness. This is why hydration lasts long after application. Ceramides are natural lipids that make up the protective barrier of the skin and hair. When this barrier is damaged, water escapes. Plant-based ceramides fill in the gaps and restore the barrier. A restored barrier means that water stays inside the hair fiber. Hyaluronic acid provides hydration. Ceramides lock it in. Together, they create long-lasting hydration. Hyaluronic acid alone provides only temporary hydration. After rinsing, the hydration quickly escapes. Ceramides alone strengthen the barrier but are not enough to deeply hydrate. Together, they create a synergy: deep hydration plus long-lasting retention. Orange blossom essential wax seals in this hydration by creating a protective veil. It also protects against external aggressors (UV rays, pollution, heat). Organic hydrosols (Damask rose, chamomile, orange blossom) provide aromatic molecules, minerals, and antioxidants. These molecules help hyaluronic acid penetrate more effectively and provide additional nourishment. Your hair is hydrated from within (hyaluronic acid), protected (ceramides), sealed (essential wax), and nourished (organic hydrosols). It’s a comprehensive scientific approach that addresses all aspects of hair hydration.

My hair is very dry and damaged by heat. How long before I see real repair?

Very dry hair damaged by heat needs time to repair itself. The lipid barrier is severely damaged. Ceramides must gradually rebuild it. It's not instantaneous, but the results are visible and long-lasting. After one application, your hair is immediately more supple and shiny. This is the temporary effect of hydration. After rinsing, moisture begins to escape, but less quickly than before. After 2 to 3 applications (one week of regular use), you will notice that your hair stays hydrated longer. The lipid barrier begins to rebuild itself. After 4 to 6 applications (2 to 3 weeks), the transformation becomes visible. Your hair is noticeably more supple, shinier, and less brittle. Breakage is visibly reduced. After 8 to 12 applications (4 to 6 weeks), the repair is significant. Your hair is visibly stronger and healthier. The lipid barrier is gradually restored. Moisture now lasts 48 hours or more after application. After 12 to 16 applications (6 to 8 weeks), repair is complete. Your hair is noticeably stronger, shinier, and healthier. The lipid barrier is restored. You can reduce the frequency of use for maintenance (once a week instead of twice). The results are maintained. For hair that is very damaged by heat, use this mask twice a week for the first 4 to 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, reduce to once a week for maintenance. This approach accelerates repair and maintains results. Be patient. Hair repair takes time. But after 4 to 6 weeks, you will see a real transformation. Your hair will be noticeably stronger, shinier, and healthier.

I have fine hair. Won't this mask weigh it down or make it look greasy?

This is a legitimate concern. Many people with fine hair think that moisturizing masks automatically weigh it down. This is not true. It all depends on the formula and the amount used. This mask is formulated to moisturize without weighing hair down, even fine hair. Cationic hyaluronic acid moisturizes without adding weight. It penetrates the hair fiber instead of remaining on the surface. Ceramides strengthen without thickening. Essential wax creates a light veil, not a greasy film. Organic hydrosols are light and penetrating. The result: deep hydration without feeling heavy. For fine hair, the key is dosage and application. Use a small amount (about a hazelnut-sized amount). Apply only to the lengths and ends, not the roots. The roots need less product. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes (not 30 minutes). A shorter application time means less penetration and less heaviness. Rinse thoroughly. This is crucial. Incomplete rinsing leaves residue that weighs down the hair. Rinse until the water runs completely clear. After rinsing, your hair should feel light and supple, not heavy. If it feels heavy, reduce the amount or the application time. After a few applications, you will find the ideal dosage for your fine hair. Many people with fine hair find that this mask moisturizes without weighing it down. This is because the formula is light and penetrating. After 2 to 3 weeks of regular use, your fine hair will be visibly more moisturized, supple, and shiny. Without feeling heavy.

How often should I use this mask? Once a week, twice a week, or more?

The frequency depends on the condition of your hair and your goals. If your hair is very dry or damaged, use this mask twice a week for the first 4 to 6 weeks. This will speed up the repair process. After 6 weeks, reduce to once a week for maintenance. If your hair is moderately dry, use this mask once a week. This is enough to maintain optimal hydration. If your hair is normal but you want extra hydration, use this mask once a week. This is a preventive treatment that maintains hair health. Do not over-hydrate. Excessive hydration can create a greasy effect or weigh down the hair. Once a week is generally ideal for most people. Listen to your hair. If after weekly application your hair appears heavy or greasy, reduce to once every 10 days. If your hair remains dry even after weekly application, increase to twice a week. After a few weeks, you will have found your ideal rhythm. The best time to apply this mask is after shampooing. Your hair is clean and ready to receive the mask's active ingredients. Apply to towel-dried hair (not completely dry, not dripping wet). Leave on according to your hair type (5 to 10 minutes for fine hair, 10 to 20 minutes for thick hair). Rinse thoroughly. After a few weeks of regular use, you will notice that your hair stays hydrated longer. Hydration lasts 48 hours or more. This is the effect of the gradual repair of the lipid barrier.

Why is this mask better than a traditional mask? What is the real difference?

A classic mask contains 60 to 80% inert water. This mask contains 0% added water. Instead, it contains 100% active organic hydrosols. This is a fundamental difference. Inert water does nothing. It dilutes the active ingredients. You are paying for volume, not performance. After rinsing, the water evaporates and you lose moisture. That's why classic masks only last 24 hours. Organic hydrosols contain aromatic molecules, minerals, flavonoids, and antioxidants. These molecules penetrate the fiber and remain there. They provide real nutrition, not just temporary moisture. A traditional mask contains traditional hyaluronic acid, which has a neutral charge. This mask contains cationic hyaluronic acid, which has a positive charge. This positive charge allows it to adhere to the fiber and penetrate deeper. Hydration lasts longer. A traditional mask does not contain enough ceramides. This mask is rich in them. Ceramides rebuild the lipid barrier. Without ceramides, you are only temporarily masking the problem. With ceramides, you are repairing the problem at its source. That is why the results of this mask are more long-lasting. A classic mask does not contain essential wax. This mask does. Essential wax seals in moisture and protects against external aggressions. Without essential wax, moisture escapes quickly. With essential wax, moisture lasts 48 hours or more. 98% natural ingredients, free from sulfates, parabens, and silicones. Classic masks often contain harsh ingredients that damage hair in the long term. This mask respects your hair while repairing it. A classic mask costs $10-20 and lasts 1 month. This mask costs more but lasts 2 to 3 months and offers 3 times better results. The cost per use is comparable, but the effectiveness is much higher. After one use, you will feel the difference. Your hair will be more hydrated and supple. After 2 to 3 weeks, the transformation will be visible. After 4 weeks, your hair will be noticeably stronger, shinier, and healthier. That's why this mask is superior to traditional masks.
